Yankton Soccer

A Hat Trick from a player in soccer usually means a win, however the Bucks could not outlast the Rough Riders of Sioux Falls.  Sioux Falls walked away with a 4-3 win over the Bucks.  Jack Wolfgram had the hat trick for the Bucks, and Trevor Rafferty had 10 saves. Yankton plays on the road again this upcoming Saturday as they take on Huron on Saturday.

The Yankton Gazelles got back in the right column with a win last night against the Rough Riders.  Going into the game on Tuesday, the Gazelles were on a three game losing streak.  2 goals in the first righted the ship and the Gazelles left Howard Wood field with a 2-1 victory.  Yankton, 5-4-1, finishes its road schedule at Huron on Saturday. Start time is 2 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.

Yankton Football Looking for the Right Road

Yankton Bucks Football Team have found themselves in two columns this year. On the Road, and Losing. One area can’t be changed, however the other one is in reach.

The Bucks opened their season against Brookings Bobcats, in Brookings.  Less then five minutes into the game, weather struck and forced a postponement to the game.  The game would be picked back up the following day at noon. Which meant Yankton had to go back home, and then back to Brookings the following morning. Brookings escaped in the final minutes with a 27-21 victory.

Traveling didn’t get any easier for Yankton as the following week they traveled to the capital.  In a car, it’s a little more then a 3 hour journey.  In a bus, much longer.  After a 14-0 start to the game, the traveling set in and Buck fell to the Governors 42-14.

Yankton was looking forward to finally playing at home, however, construction at Crane-Youngworth field had other plans and a home game was moved to Freeman.  Bucks piled on the bus once again to play the Mitchell Kernels.   After a good first half, they couldn’t find the scoreboard in the second half and lost 33-21.

Bucks look to bounce back now as they play the Roosevelt Rough Riders at Howard Wood Field this Friday at 6. The traveling continues for the Bucks, however, they can make their way into the win column with a big win this Friday
