The top two defense’s in the Summit League squared off against once another last night, and the Coyote women came out on top, and moved to 5-0 in league play. That is the first time since 2007-08 when they went perfect in conference play.
Four Coyotes scored in double figures as South Dakota had to fight back from a first half deficit. For Oral Roberts it is the fifth consecutive time they have lost to USD.
Junior guard Allison Arens led the way with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting for the game. Arens scored 13 of her points in the first half to keep the Coyotes within five at the break.
Senior guard Jasmine Trimboli added 15 points with a pair of steals. Sophomore guard Madison McKeever scored 14 points, and Sophomore guard Ciara Duffy scored all 11 of her points in the second half to reach double digits.
South Dakota completed the first successful second-half comeback by a Golden Eagles opponent this season. Oral Roberts is 11-1 when leading at the half.
Oral Roberts out rebounded South Dakota 29-22, yet the Golden Eagles only scored seven second-chance points on 11 offensive boards.
The Coyotes return home to host Omaha inside the Sanford Coyote Sports Center at 1 p.m. Saturday.
