United Way Day of Caring Sign up

June 17

A one day, community wide volunteer event that allows organizations, families, and individuals an opportunity to make a hands-on impact in the community!

9:00 AM  Fresh Paint, New Beginnings Assist Pathways Shelter for the Homeless in painting the exterior of their facility. Volunteers with all skill levels are welcome. Must be 16 years of age. • Roll Up Your Sleeves Support the Clothing Closet by sorting, organizing and displaying gently used, donated clothing. Volunteers with all skill levels are welcome. A family friendly opportunity! • Sack Pack Summer Sweep Help Food for Thought pack easy to prepare, nutritious food for children who are at risk of hunger. Also assist with organizing. Volunteers with all skill levels are welcome. Must be 16 years of age. • Summer Slide Book Drive Sort & label donated children’s books to benefit The Big Red Bookshelf program and The Yankton Literacy Council. Volunteers with all skill levels are welcome. A family friendly opportunity!

10:00 AM Bright Outlook – Great Futures Help the Boys & Girls Club keep their facility clean and bright with summer cleaning, organizing, and gardening projects! Volunteers with all skill levels are welcome. A family friendly opportunity! • Project Playground Assist River City Family Connections in removing a playground set and preparing the outdoor space for an update. Maintenance skills preferred. Must be 16 years of age. • Details Matter Keep Yankton Transit’s fleet of buses clean, tidy and ready for service. Volunteers with all skill levels are welcome. A family friendly opportunity! • Brush with Kindness Lend a hand to Habitat for Humanity as they install safe & secure outdoor stairs for a local homeowner to increase mobility. Maintenance skills preferred. Must be 18 years of age.

Must be 16 years of age. • Fixer Upper: Volunteer Edition Aid the Clothing Closet program by updating the space with paint and minor repairs. Maintenance skills preferred. Must be 16 years of age.

Volunteers can sign up individually or create teams. Pre-registration is required to participate. This is a great opportunity to gather your friends, family or co-workers and assist local non-profits with much needed projects!
