Flamingos to flock lawns in Yankton

April 26, 2022 - May 31, 2022

Members of the Lewis & Clark Leathernecks Marine Corps League and Auxiliary will be “flocking” yards in the City of Yankton during the month of May for NF Children’s Tumor Foundation and Westin Cuka, poster child for Neurofibromatosis in South Dakota.  Westin, 8 years old, is the son of Naomi and Marine Gunnery Sergeant (ret.) James Cuka.  Westin receives treatment at the Mayo Clinic and currently there is no cure for this disease..This fundraiser involves deploying a flock of pink plastic flamingos overnight inan unsuspecting victim’s yard. A note will be left explaining that the person or business has been selected by someone to be “flocked” for a good cause.  And, it then goes on to explain that a donation of $15 for the flock of flamingos to have them relocated.  The fun part is that each flocking victim then gets to pick the next victim. Flocking insurance for $15 is also available, if people would like to protect their yards.  The flocking process continues for the entire  month of May.Anyone who wishes to just donate to the fundraiser or have a Flamingo Flocking, or would like to flock a family member, friend or co-worker’s yard (city limits only) may call: Naomi at 605-360-6515 or Luana at 605-660-9133.
