Combating Human Trafficking Community Conversation

December 6, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am

Open to the public! We are inviting local businesses to join the conversation, by learning how to detect and prevent human trafficking from occurring in our local businesses and minimizing trafficking around Yankton.
Human trafficking has been reported in every county in the United States and poses several challenges since each case is different. Yankton businesses ARE susceptible to human trafficking because human trafficking has no boundaries. For example, 7.5 million (47%) of forced labor victims work in construction, manufacturing, mining, or in a hospitality service. Another 1.7 million (11%) of forced labor victims work in agriculture. There is no concrete statistic for sex trafficking from the lack of identification. Sex trafficking is common, and it runs throughout various businesses such as salons, hotels, bars, gas stations, or other public locations. Although considered a small rural town, Yankton is not immune to any form of human trafficking.
Join River City Domestic Violence Center, Call To Freedom and United Way Spark on December 6th at 8:30 AM in the Avera Pavilion.
